We all deserve to thrive in beautiful spaces

Have you noticed you feel better in certain environments more than others? Science shows we can optimize how we think and feel when we integrate elements of the natural world such as plants, sunlight, natural materials and works of art featuring beauty and nature into our homes and workplace. This is called Biophilic Design.

Why is this? Humans have evolved body, mind and spirit in adaptive response to environmental forces over thousands of years and our brains are still wired to respond positively to familiar elements from our natural world. Benefits include reduced cortisol levels, improved performance and increased cognitive function.

I’ve traveled the world as a photographer for almost 25 years. I’ve captured portraits of distinguished personalities from Reese Witherspoon to the Dalai Lama, and told authentic travel and lifestyle stories for dozens of publications, including The New York Times, Conde Nast Traveler and Architectural Digest.

In 2013, I moved to Palm Springs, CA co-founded the coffee shop Ernest Coffee and cocktail bar Bootlegger Tiki and transformed a rundown mid-century modern building into The Amado, the first of several boutique hotels I have designed and developed.

My projects have appeared in Architectural Digest, Vogue Living, Elle Magazine, Sunset Magazine, Travel + Leisure, Hunker, E! Canada and others.
